What’s the plan?
So, here’s the deal – Meta and MCA will make a special chat buddy (a chatbot, as they call it) on WhatsApp. This friend will speak English, Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu, so lots of people can use it. If someone thinks a message or a picture is fake and made by a computer, they can send it to this chat buddy.
What happens next?
The chat buddy will then send this tricky message to some smart people called fact-checkers. These fact-checkers will look closely at the message and decide if it’s true or just a made-up story. If it’s not true, they’ll tell everyone and show that the message is not to be trusted.
Why is this happening?
Do you know how sometimes people send messages that are not true? It happens a lot on WhatsApp, and Meta wants to stop it. They’ve tried some things before, like limiting how many times you can send a message, but it didn’t stop all the tricky messages. So now, they’re teaming up with friends from MCA to make sure the messages are checked properly.
My Opinion:
I think it’s a good idea to have a helper on WhatsApp to check if messages are true or not. Sometimes it’s hard to know what’s real, and having some smart people help out is awesome! But, you know, we all need to be careful and not believe everything we see on our phones. It’s like having a superhero buddy to protect us from fake news!
